mvlandscapes.com offers royalty free digital
photographs of Martha's Vineyard as well as matted prints. All of
the photographs were taken by island native, Heather Goff. Some
were taken on a Sony digital camera at a resolution of 1024 x 768.
Some were taken with a Minolta 7HI at a resolution of 2560 x 1920.
Some of the images were further cropped a couple pixels here and
there to strengthen the composition. These images are ideal for
website projects, screensavers and other projects for digital viewing.
For print publications, the 1024 x 768 would reduce down to approx.
2.5 x 3.5 inches to get a 300 dpi print and the 2560 x 1920 to a
decent 8 x 10. For wall art, they look quite fine printed on standard
glossy ink jet photo quality paper at 8 x 10 and 6x8 inches.
Step 1: Find your photo
There are three search options: search
by town, by season and by subject. You can select to search by only
one of these drop down boxes, or by all of them. For example, you
could choose to search for images of architecture in Oak Bluffs
in the spring, or for boats in the summer, or for just lighthouses.
If you leave the options "any town" , "any season",
"any subject" you will get all of the images in the database
which number in the hundreds, so we suggest narrowing down your
search at least by town or subject. Make your selection and press
"Go!"
Step 2: Viewing Images.
The images will display one after the
other. To the right of the image will be information about it. The
title, the season, the location, the subject, what size the image
is when e-mailed to you. There is also a link to buy the image.
Underneath the image is a button "click for larger view"
which you can click to get a better view of the image. All of the
images when shown on mvlandscapes.com have the mvlandscapes.com
logo on them. The image that you purchase will not have the mvlandscapes.com
logo on it. It will be just the image in the size specified.
Step 3: Lightbox.
For convenience of viewing, as you search
through the many images in the database, you can select to put your
favorites into your "lightbox". This allows you to view
your favorite images as a group uncluttered by the other images
resulting from your search request. Putting the images in your lightbox
does not mean you are purchasing them, it's just a way to view them
before deciding to purchase. Your lightbox preferences are stored
in a cookie, and they will disappear if you shut down your browser.
Step 4. Purchasing the Image.
If you click the the "Buy Digital
Image" link you will enter
our secure shopping cart. There you will be asked to enter your
contact information and credit card information. Mvlandscapes.com
accepts mastercard and visa and checks. If you select to pay by
check, we will need to receive and deposit the check before sending
the images. When you place your order, you will receive an e-mail
verifying your order. Digital images will be sent to you via e-mail,
so make sure that your e-mail address is entered correctly. If you
pay by credit card, digital images will be emailed within 24 hours.
By purchasing the image, you agree to the mvlandscapes.com license.
Step 5. Requesting an image
If you need a specific image and it doesn't
appear to exist in the database, e-mail
Heather. Although she's working full time as a
web designer and programmer, she carries her camera with her everywhere
and can probably take the picture that you need if it is in season.
She also has a number of images that she did not upload to the site's
database, and may already have what you're looking for.
Other products:
Heather has the software to make great screensavers for both Mac's
and PC's. So if you'd like a screensaver made with your company
logo on it, contact
Heather and let her know.
